Marni For H&M Collaboration For Spring 2012, Less than a month after its widely successful collaboration with Versace, H&M has announced that it’s next designer team up is with Marni. There will be a women’s and men’s collection plus accessories like those chunky necklaces with a homespun feel and the trademark conical hats. Judging from the early images, the looks with their relaxed silhouettes and the use of the signature Marni polka-dot print are sure to draw huge crowds.

The Fanning sisters are both very beautiful and very talented. So no wonder they have landed the cover of one of the most prestigious fashion magazines. They look amazing on all the photos and their interview is detailed and interesting.

The Fanning sisters look amazing on the cover of W MagazineDecember 2011 issue. Elle and Dakota pose together for a number of photographs inside the glossy. No bare bodies or provocative clothing but the images are as attractive as few can be. At least for me. To be sincere I was literally mesmerized with the photography.
The teenage stars sparkle on the W Magazine cover. Both are wearing dresses with luxurious golden embroidery and both look totally glamorous.

Several other pictures of Elle and Dakota Fanning feature them together. One pic shows us the two embraced, with lovely hats on their heads (Are those hats by Chanel?). On another Elle is whispering something very intriguing into her big sister’s ear. And the last demonstrates us a cute photo of the younger girl putting on lipstick on her elder sibling.

Elle and Dakota Fanning have also provided some interesting information for us to get to know them better. While Dakota was more serious and talked about her career and college, Elle opened up about boys and relationship with her sister.

Interview with Marco De Vincenzo

The career of Marco De Vincenzo began by chance in the accessories field at Fendi fashion house. It was 20 October 2000. Marco was just 21 years old at the time of his job interview, and arrived with merely a portfolio of clothing and an obsession: designing clothes. But they told him that the only area open to him was working on bags. “If you’re so good at designing you’ll be able to design these too”, they reassured him. And it was true. So Marco accepted the job.

In 2009, after almost 10 years of working side by side with Silvia Fendi as an employee, Marco decided to take a risk: work as an outside consultant for the brand, and at the same time work on his own collections. The reason? Once again it was his passion that led him to design clothing every evening, after a day of work.
Marco had little experience in the clothing sector, but a lot regarding materials and working methods. He thus turned to a tailor and a fashion designer to carry out the manual work.  “I had some money set aside and I said to myself: I’ll give it a try, I’ll produce my first collection. At this point I have to begin,” Marco explained. This is how Angelo Sensini, his PR rep, encouraged him. “If you get to at least 20 pieces, we’ll present them at the Paris Fashion Week.” The result was Marco De Vincenzo’s début fashion show. Amidst acknowledgements and difficulties, the path he started down has today reached the fourth collection.

So you self-financed your first collection?

Yes. Making women’s clothing was and still is my most pressing need. Even if until now I haven’t yet made any profit with my line. In fact, it has been three years that I have had to reinvest the profits and finance other work phases, such as the shows for example.

How does a young designer finance himself?
First of all, you have to find a distributor that sells your collection. Then you need a producer. After which, if it goes well, you can start on a sales campaign.

Why did you début in Paris?
Because it’s a fashion week that provides high visibility. However, since then I have always chosen Milan, a city to which I have always linked my idea of prêt-à-porter. I am very Italian in this. I’m not a xenophile by nature

Why did you decide to live in Rome?
In Rome you are far removed from the fashion industry, so it’s not the perfect city for facilitating a job of this type. But in fact I’m happy being outside certain style mechanisms linked to the fashion capital. In Milan competition is even on the street, at the venues, in searching for the right look. And this doesn’t interest me.

Is there real interest in young Italian designers?Before the “Who’s on Next” competition in Italy there was nothing, and compared to five years ago you could say that now there is a certain amount of interest in young people. Franca Sozzani was forward-thinking in this. This is why I am grateful to her.

What did “Who’s on Next” give you?
Visibility, which however can become a boomerang if then you are unable to find useful work contacts. Then you need to draw some fine distinctions, but they are rare. That is the case of Colangelo, who won the competition promoted by Vogue and has found a backing for his line in the Castor brand.

What do you need other than visibility?
Journalists have enormous power, in light of their frequently very close connections with the world of industry. Abroad the young people that have greater opportunities are often protégés of the journalists. This exists in Italy, but is much more veiled, as if there were fear about openly believing in someone’s work. Let’s just say there is a bit more suspicion. In London, for example, important guidance comes more swiftly: Mario Schwaab comes out of St.Martins, puts on two fashion shows and is called to work at Halston. Beyond his talent, this is thanks to the helping hand that comes from the press. The mechanism works and is quick.

Don’t journalists also have the power to label and sometimes trivialise your work?
Occasionally, yes. There is a certain laziness in interpreting what lies behind every collection. If you are defined as the media’s designer, every season you will repeat the concept. It is an easier mechanism to follow, but it does not entirely convince me.

Have you also noted this in the foreign press?
I always gladly read the Herald Tribune, for example. It makes a critical analysis of the collections that is not always positive, but is however constructive and goes into depth. A free analysis. I wish there were more like that.

What do you want to always emerge from your collections?
What is important is that I am able to maintain my codes, my signature, even if every six months I try to express something new. After my first show – the one that was somewhat optical and geometric – everyone expected me to continue in that vein. But repetition is not stimulating for me. I like to run risks.

So what is your artistic nature?
Symmetry, geometry, contrasting colours. Generally speaking, you always find a graphical framework in the prints or in the silhouette in my works. I also tackled the animalier theme of my latest collection trying to offer a vision which was consistent with these parameters.

What advice would you give young designers that have to present their work to the media?
Always bear in mind that journalists often have very little time to write. So you have to be clear and concise, and pay attention to possible misunderstandings. When I talked about a Schiapparelli touch in describing my latest collection, my work was mysteriously transformed into a tribute to Schiapparelli. And that was not exactly what I meant.

And if you were to talk about your collection again now?
I would say that the key word is once again graphical motifs, a clear silhouette marked by colour. I’m not particularly fond of soft colours, water-colour effects, but always that which is distinct and clear-cut. This time I started off from love at first sight for the photograph of a late ‘60s zebra-print coat by Ungaro. After creating these surreal “animals”, I found the “eye” buttons by Delfina Delettrex Fendi to be perfect for the final and somewhat grotesque touch that the collection needed.

Projects for the future?
To tell you the truth, I’m going through a rather critical stage. I believe that if I’m unable to go forward satisfactorily, it is best that I stop. In the beginning I tried to distinguish and promote myself on my own, but now I need more investment. Now that I’m inside the circuit, I am judged like a big brand name would be and when you are in middle of the whirlwind, nobody cares what lies behind your collections, what the problems and obstacles are.  

What kind of problems?
 The Italian fashion system is too exclusive for a young person without means. What’s more, we are in the centre of a crisis: it’s difficult for the stores to buy a new line because people don’t want to pay over the odds for unknown brands. But it is precisely the unknown brands that have the greatest difficulty in the absence of an industry that cuts production costs. Then, the system is increasingly frenetic and does not let you make mistakes. Ten years ago, Fendi and I came out with two annual collections. Today there are six because the market needs a continuous stream of new goods.

What should be done to change the Italian fashion system?
On average, a fashion show costs 60–70 thousand euros and a young Italian designer has to pay for it out of his own pocket. It’s absurd, also because it is still the best way to exhibit your work. The Italian Chamber of Fashion should set up a committee that selects the best names, puts together sponsors, modelling agencies, make-up artists, and location managers and let the most deserving designers exhibit free of charge. That’s what happens in England, where they select the best young designers and totally sponsor them. This means believing in young people and creating opportunities through a well-tested system that allows access to a network of distributors and showrooms interested in true talent.   

And in the fashion schools?
We should make a more rigorous selection at the time of admission and discourage – if appropriate – whoever doesn’t have what it takes to embark on this career. Today it seems that fashion design has become a job within the reach of everyone, but it’s not the case.
In England they brought a fashion week that wasn’t that special back in vogue, starting precisely from the prestige and efficiency of a school, Central St. Martins. It is an exchange between place of origin and young creative people, which set each other off.
As in many other professions, selectivity and meritocracy are fundamental in this. In my opinion, the fear of being able to cope, for whoever studies fashion, as well as other subjects, can be really constructive, and is often a sensation which the students of today no longer take into account.

What do you owe to your collaboration with Silvia Fendi?
A great deal. I arrived there when I was 21 and she invested in me. She gave me the chance to work on an important project when I was not yet a professional. 

There are few Italian brands that invest in young people…
In general, aside from Donatella Versace with Christopher Kane or Ferrè with Aquilano. Rimondi, the Italian fashion brands don’t seem to be ready for the arrival of the new generation. I’m not a xenophile, but foreign countries have been outdoing us in this for quite a long time.

From busy completing the final project which is full of calculations to find something else to do because I have no longer employed at the place I know and learn about coffee and fall in love with a remarkable man. (*assbi)
Now I've left a degree student, only the shape of a diploma that can be seen. But so many lessons about the process of getting science to lead a diploma.
happy it was able to write again here, my favorite is still the same thing watching dramas korea . nearly two movie titles that I accomplish less in a week, maybe even more ... (and I prove it doesn't make me bored ... if you have to sit for hours in front of the screen)

Christian Dior is one of the most expensive luxury cloths brands. It is so now, and it was so 30 years ago too. But what have they done 30 years ago according to those LIFE photos was an organized trip to Russia for a group of model looking ladies wearing all-new Dior luxury stuff walking on the streets of Moscow.

Of course, as I understand the main purpose of this action was to shoot so cool-looking ads when the so expensive looking Dior models shot on the streets of the dully dressed Russian women, but what did those Russian ladies felt – they were for years deprived from any designer cloths. Not even they couldn’t buy the luxury expensive designers dress but they neither couldn’t buy ANY dress designed for someone else except a Communist Designers Company – those people there didn’t care much about design – they had no any competition – so the cloths available in Soviet stores was far away from being called stylish, and any, just any item which got inside the iron curtain from the abroad was treated as an icon, the pair of just simple blue levi jeans were just an unachievable dream for many Russian people at that times. And in such an atmosphere those girls were walking around the Moscow.

The essence of easygoing Mediterranean style, espadrilles have been made in the Catalan region of Spain for over 700 years. A continuous staple in the region, these summertime favorites rose to international fame when Lauren Bacall tied on a fetching pair in the 1948 classic, Key Largo.

While staying true to their timeless roots, the espadrilles of today come in a range of heights, silhouettes, and textures. Always unable to resist a cute print, I fell in love with the swan-patterned Tory Burch wedges pictured. Vintage clothing has never been more in fashion. Chic, unique, and often cheaper than its modern-day counterparts, what’s not to like? Hollywood A-listers such Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon and Sienna Miller often delve into the thrift shop when they want a glamour hit on the red carpet, but you don’t need an A-list budget to work the vintage look.

When it comes to vintage fashion, there are two types of collector. The first are style mavens who are looking for something that nobody else will be wearing. The second, and less common, type are those who buy to collect. But whatever the reason for collecting, the pleasure of finding a one-of-a-kind design is oh-so rewarding.

1920s & 1930s

Some of the most collectable looks of the 20th century include the beaded flapper dresses of the Twenties and the sensuous bias-cut silk gowns of the 1930s. Naturally, designs from the 1920s are hardest to find, as they were often made from delicate fabrics that damage very easily and have often not stood the test of time. Knee-length gowns were de rigeur, when women were encouraged to bind their busts in order to attain a boyish figure. Simple drop-waisted shift dresses from the Twenties can still be bought. Expect to pay around £400, or even more, for a Twenties piece in good condition. For a pristine beaded flapper evening dress though, expect to pay in excess of £1,000. It is possible to have garments restored, but can prove costly. Take the advice of the dealer if in doubt.

Moving on to the 1930s hemlines dropped to the floor and womanly curves were shown off in bias-cut fabrics. Eveningwear featured stunning silk and satins, covered buttons, the glitter of lurex and built-up shoulders – think of Hollywood stars such as Greta Garbo. Thirties frocks are much easier to find – you can pick up a Thirties evening gown for around £300 (a couture piece may cost at least £1,000). Daywear is more low-key and affordable, with cotton dresses in softly draping fabrics in sweet floral prints. Expect to pay upwards of £60. As with all vintage clothing, store items in acid-free paper to avoid damage.

1940s and 1950s

There is a wide range of Forties styles on the market, as dealers often travel to the US to buy pieces. American womenswear was more colourful and glamorous than British fashion, which was restricted by wartime rationing, so it’s possible to find some stunning imported outfits. Wool skirt suits with tailored jackets and smart pencil skirts can be found for around £200, while a day dress can cost from as little as £40.

‘I predict that 1940s skirt suits will be the next big thing, as there were so many modern versions in the designers’ autumn collections,’ says Samaya Ling, a Bristol-based vintage clothing dealer.

‘The Forties and Fifties are great for women with curves,’ says Jane Appleby-Deen, a vintage clothing specialist in London. ‘ The nipped-in waist, defined shoulders and full skirts create a beautiful hourglass shape.’ But, as she adds, ‘there is a decade for every figure.’

‘This summer, 1950s printed cotton day dresses were very popular,’ says Samaya. ‘Summery day dresses can still be worn in the winter when teamed with boots or thick tights.’

Look out for dresses bearing the Horrockses label. During the 1950s, this Preston-based firm produced floral print dresses that are timelessly stylish and of the best quality. If you’re lucky, you can find one for upwards of £90, although they can go into the hundreds.

Unattributed Fifties day dresses can be found for £50-£60. Evening dresses from the period can be bought for a couple of hundred pounds. Even a Christian Dior ready-to-wear dress is surprisingly affordable. If you went into a boutique and bought a new Dior evening dress it could cost you thousands, but you can pick up a vintage piece for £400-£500.

1960s

Bold colours and simple lines sum up 1960s fashion, evident in both daytime fashions and eveningwear. Modern man-made fabrics in blocks of colour such as red, orange and pink still look up-to-date. Necklines embellished with crystals and coloured glass add interest. When buying, avoid examples with stones missing unless you’re prepared to have them restored.

Fashion from the 1960s is largely undervalued, perhaps because it requires an adventurous wearer.

With so much choice, you’ve almost got to think twice about buying something new these days. If you look, you can get a better made original, with quality fabric, for less money than you’d pay for new. You won’t bump into anyone else wearing the same piece either. Next time you have a special occasion to attend, why not take the vintage option?
